De La Cruz Deli Restaurants: Gourmet Sandwiches, Fresh Salads ..:: Catering to Silicon Valley since 1974 ::.. In 1974 two brothers from Chicago, Glenn and Randall Nelson, saw a need for quality food served quickly in industrial parks. De La Cruz Deli fills an important overlooked niche in a market where workers with only one half to one hour for lunch were once limited to catering trucks serving cheap cold food, company cafeterias or bringing food from home. Since 1974 De La Cruz Deli, serving a variety of quality foods and beverages with our specialized "efficiency system", has grown to a multi-million dollar restaurant chain. We at De La Cruz Deli believe this has happened because of the value received by our customers. From our "custom made to order" sandwiches to our overflowing salad bar, our food is always fresh, tasty and includes enough variety to be eaten daily. The majority of our customers eat at our restaurants three to four times a week.
Our physical layout provides us with an extraordinary ability to produce "custom made to order" lunches in a minimum amount of time. This is accomplished by having separate sandwich stations each with its’ own responsibility. Separate beverage and salad bar locations also contribute, and most of all, separate cashier stations capable of handling sixteen customers per minute.
Our sandwich stations provide what we call a "self equalization of sales." This keeps labor to a minimum so that savings can be passed on to the customer.
